it started in Euro House / techno and trickled through R&B to clean up imperfections vocal wise so there's no bad notes , but done slightly to where you wouldnt tell ...now it's on to Hip Hop where it's becoming a staple of Hip Hop Hits and basically it has to be displayed for what it is that nothing subtle about it- The Vocoder used by the The Late Roger Troutman who was the Grandfather and now T-Pain the Godfather of this sound has single handedly made every record a hit as for T-pain he was on every top 10 hit last year - it was one point where T-pain owned the radio and ringtones ..so just like any trend that's Winning . others had to catch on and if you have pro-tools and this feature i must say its Fun To try i mean you can be a decent singer and pull it off..so if it works why not.
